ARRIS and Conax have been demonstrating the joint capabilities of ARRIS’s DASH repackaging and Conax’s multi-DRM encryption at NAB 2015. The demo highlights a successful IP video delivery implementation for one of ARRIS’s principal customers in the Caribbean using ARRIS’s Spectrum SDC software. It features a collaboration with UXP Systems, and Conax, which provides service protection for digital TV and entertainment services.

ARRIS’s Spectrum SDC enables service providers to reduce storage and delivery costs by removing the need to encode, encrypt and store each file in multiple formats. The demo will showcase how the solutions enable service providers to monitor and control each IP video stream, enabling increased per-session quality and security management through integration with Conax’s DRM technology and UXP Systems’ unified IPTV access.  â€œBy implementing this repackaging solution, providers will benefit from enhanced support for Smooth Streaming-to-DASH, using common encryption format,” ARRIS explains.

Spectrum SDC is setting a new standard for DASH repackaging that’s enabling service provider partners to realize new cost savings with IP video delivery and storage,” Brian Collie, Vice President, Video Content Delivery at ARRIS, declares.

Conax says it is essential to support multiple DRM technologies to reach all required devices for a TV everywhere service. Conax Contego supports PlayReady, Widevine, NAGRA PRM and Conax OTT Access, with Common Encryption (CENC) for a simplified and cost-effective workflow. “We are excited to work with key industry players like ARRIS and UXP Systems to showcase how operators can benefit from this innovative DASH implementation software,” says Tom Jahr, EVP Products & Marketing, Conax. “The combination of our offerings will enhance the overall user experience.”
