The cable provider Layer3 TV has selected SeaChange International as a key vendor for its in-home platform, which will launch in 2015. Layer3 TV will use SeaChange’s open Nucleus video gateway software to deliver a service that incorporates the best of television, social and digital life – all within the existing distribution paradigm. Using a variety of devices at home, consumers will be able to search, stream and store TV programmes, movies and personal video, and enjoy powerful applications including whole-home DVR. SeaChange Professional Services will provide Nucleus integration and testing with Layer3 TV’s chosen 4K IP set-top box.

“Nucleus is helping Layer3 TV hit the ground running with an array of capabilities that can quickly evolve with consumer habits and preferences,” said Layer3 TV CEO Jeff Binder. “Building our in-home strategy with SeaChange’s software and systems integration expertise puts us in control of our gateway hardware options and lets us keep our focus on innovating at the service layer for high-impact subscriber engagement across devices.”

â€œLayer3 TV is preparing to transform video services and SeaChange is thrilled to be its partner in delivering a breakthrough service-oriented IP gateway,” adds SeaChange CEO Jay Samit.  â€œNucleus puts our customers in the best possible position for capturing the opportunities raised by disruptive technologies.  We’re eager to support Layer3 TV as it enhances the programming and distribution ecosystem with vastly differentiated entertainment experiences.”

SeaChange says its Nucleus video gateway software was created to empower video service providers to break the gridlock in customer premises equipment choices. It is pre-integrated with an extensive and growing list of set-top boxes and chipsets and has been selected by several service providers globally including two of the world’s largest.
